Prince Thatch is a perfect example of a modern day improvement stallion. His high rideability index of 143  combined with his incredible index of 165 for producing dressage horses makes him one of the most sought after English Thoroughbreds in Germany today.

       Three of the four foundation Hanoverian stallion lines trace back to English Thoroughbreds. The A-line (and later E-line) dates back to Adeptus xx, the D-line traces back to Devil's Own xx, and even the infamous producer of top performance horses the G-line begins with Goldschaum xx.

       With such a history, the breed continues to do today what their ancestors did years before which is to add refinement and lighten to existing type of modern sporthorse. Some of the most popular Hanoverian stallions are actually 50% thoroughbred. Pik Konig's father was Pik As xx, both Longchamp and Londonderry are by Lauries Crusador xx, and Lugano I is by Der Lowe xx.

       Prince Thatch was licensed in 1989. He placed third in a strong stallion age class comprised, other than himself, of only warmbloods. This feat is even more impressive when one considers that he had just completed four seasons on the racetrack where he won DM 45,000.

       At the 101st Elite Auction, it was a Prince Thatch xx/Falkland son named Petrocelli that became the highlight. Selling for an incredible DM 220,000 this young star then began a career in dressage.
