Carrabas, outstanding young stallion by the sire Cardenio. Cardenio was approved 2009 in Neumünster. During the approval he already was catching everyone‘s eyes because of his harmonic and correctly build exterieur, who shows the breeding aim of the modern Holsteiner. After the approval he was leased to the state stud Radegast in Sachsen-Anhalt for three years. There he also did his stallion test, where he got especially good notes in the jumping disciplines.

2006 the show season started quite successfully. At the CSI Neustadt-Dosse he ended up 6th in a S***-class, and he was highly placed in Münster and Ravensburg. Unfortunately the stallion was injured seriously in Ravensburg, so that he will not be able to show anymore. At the mares tests in Brandenburg several daughters of Cardenio showed extraordinary free jumping skills, which confirmed the breeding qualities of Cardenio. At the approval in Neustadt-Dosse a Cardenio-son out of a Brandenburger mare was a superior Champion stallion.

Cardenio‘s pedigree with Coriano - Aloubè Z shows his breeding potential. Coriano was an international show jumper himself, first under Danish Bo Kristoffersen and later on in Zangersheide with the young amazone rider Judy-Ann Melchior. Coriano‘s son Van Schindel‘s Curtis won the team gold medal with Dutch Piet Raymakers at the World Equestrian Games in Aachen 2006. Also Aloubè Z is a sire, who gives jumping quality to his offspring. This mostly because of the valuable genes of his father Almé and his grandfather Gotthard. Almè is also the father of the Holsteiner sire Alcatraz .

The mare stemm of Cardenio, Stamm 741, has delivered several international top horses, which proves its value in Holstein : Leonardo under Franke Sloothaak, Chagall Orion under Mario Deslauriers as well as VDL Cardento, who won the team silver medal under Swedish Peter Ericsson at the Athens Olympics 2004. Cardenio‘s full sister Naomi was very successful under US-rider Lauren Hough and is now mounted by David McPherson (GBR).

The offspring of Cardenio‘s first breeding years are showing themselves very successful in jumping horse classes. Also six of them already have placings in S-classes. The breeding index of Cardenio for 2009 is 146 for jumping.

Cardenio

Carrabbas’s damline goes back to the famous Folia. She gave life to five top mark stallions: Capitol I,Capitol II, Latus I, Latus II as well as Cellebrio and was mother to the following premium mares Kausa,Lektion and U-Capitola. Lektion's wins include European Eventing Championship ridden by Imke Dehm. Kausa was covered by Caletto and produced the top mark stallion Cadillac.

Carrabas was at the Keuring in Redefin and will make an outstanding riding horse stallion or gelding, the choice is yours. He is out of strong performance blood and suitable for dressage or jumping or the combination of the two. An outstanding eventer if that is your goal? He is a horse of unbelievable quality and super fancy mover. He has the elasticity everybody is looking for. He has a free shoulder, a huge grund schwung and swings nicely through his back.
